great app, really helps but it kicks me out some times please fix
The phrase generator and icons are great. The word search was not helpful as it was only English to Spanish. Ordering food from a menu and reading signs was a challenge because there was no way to look up Spanish words. There should also be a way to shut off the sound. It was annoying to have to remember to turn the volume all the way down when in public spaces. If the volume is up, you end up hearing (in Spanish) the various phrases you are searching through.
Not a bad purchase if you need simple phrases to ask for things or needing to get by. What can you expect for $5.
There are dozens of language apps in the app store. I like this one because of its unique way of teaching me the sentence structure and grammar of the foreign language. Each time I build a phrase using the phrase buttons, I have to do it in the correct order of the foreign language. If that sounds complicated, dont worry, its really as simple as following the numbered buttons. But the learning effect of this simple mechanism should not be underestimated. I also really like that the app is self-contained. It doesnt need an Internet connection to work. This is essential when Im traveling and I dont want to pay exorbitant roaming charges just to translate a simple phrase. As you can tell, Im a big fan of the Odyssey Translator apps. Ive been using them since they were first released on the iPhone. This new update looks great with a redesigned, much cleaner UI. My favorite new feature is the favorites function: I can add phrases that I use frequently to a favorites list that I can quickly access from anywhere in the app. Very useful!
